Wrap it up and start again

Friday 4/26/24

I think it would be impossible for anyone to work as hard as I did this week but I must work much harder going forward. There have been some dark, difficult-to-hang-on days this week. I am a little tired now and will ready myself to start working harder with the new week starting tomorrow. And there are things on here I must do that I hate doing but they have to get done or else people are just going to be free to be as evil as they wish and get away with it, and no one is getting away with anything anymore.

I will keep this brief.

I saw some of the show Mannix the other day. I'd never really watched an episode. It was okay. A two-parter involving a dangerous government.

My niece is having a big birthday weekend. I'm glad, because as I said, she can be kind of lost in the mix.

Yesterday my mom was telling me how much my nephew helped her after my sister died. I can tell she has a different feeling for him and I suspect that is part of the reason why.

The condom is gone from the City Hall stairs. A half hour after I mentioned it on here the other day I was running those stairs when two city employees came out--that's right, it was a two-man job--and swept it up. Strange things happen--I won't get into too many of the behind-the-scene details here--when I mention Michelle Wu in these pages. It's occurred like every time.

I heard Drake Maye speak. That was concerning to me.

I don't think Jerod Mayo was big on him.

I also keep seeing all of these things about Bill Belichick's TV appearance last night. Told you he'd be good at it.

The NFL draft is really gross. It's just this hype-industry. Mel Kiper: gross sock puppet. He doesn't have a clue. But every guy he talks about is on his way to Canton. He's just selfishly selling the draft, which is this NFL cottage industry, to keep himself in the money. Most of these guys are going to suck. Many will be out of the league in two or three years. Or less.

The other night, the Oilers-Kings game went to OT, where it was decided in the first couple of minutes or whatever. It didn't take long. You know what time the TV postgame show got over here in the East? 1:46 AM. I was there. That's crazy. Would they have done the show if the game went to double OT? Triple?

When the Oilers go to OT, you feel like it's going to be over fast, one way or the other.

There are a lot of Cubs fans out and about in Boston. I saw an enormous one in front of Paul Revere's house this morning with a giant bag of M&Ms that he was eating as he walked. It was nine o'clock. You really need those M&Ms so bad that you must consume them as you walk around and in the morning no less? You know something? It's not that far to the City Hall stairs, and each day, between here and there, I'll see a dozen people, easily, doing something like this. I only see like fifteen people many days. But I'm not supposed to notice that, right? I'm supposed to pretend that's not how it is? I'll get into this more later. I've been reading things about Ozempic that really bother me and speak to much larger problems. People are so lazy. I hate laziness.

Just listening to the Grateful Dead play Winterland on the second day of 1972. They do this run of songs of "Tennessee Jed," "El Paso," "You Win Again," "Big Railroad Blues," and Mexicali Blues," and it's like, "Hey, we're the best country and western band ever, too." Yes, I know, "Big Railroad Blues" isn't country so much as rural rock and roll dance music, but the point holds. They are the best dance band as well.
