Yesterday I spoke to my mom who had babysat my nephew and nieces the night before and would be babysitting them again that night.
She told me she was talking to Amelia about the trip to Boston. My mom asked what happened with her and her buddy. Well, turns out there was some drama. Before they all got to Boston, the other kids were teasing their four-year-old sister about us being buddies because we talk on FaceTime, and saying that she's my favorite.
Amelia told my mom that we weren't buddies anymore, that her sister Lilah was my buddy now, because Lilah and I had worn the same shirt one day. Which is true. Wasn't planned, but we both had on our Lake Bluff softball shirts. My mom told me that then Amelia didn't want to talk about this anymore.
I was sitting there last night and I was sad because I didn't want Amelia to be sad, so I sent my mom a text with a message to give Amelia if she was still up.
Tonight I was talking to my mom, and I can confirm that the final text is a response from Amelia herself. My mom was in the room, and Amelia asked her to leave so she could have some privacy to compose (never mind that she can't write yet) and send a message.
Then guess who called me tonight? My buddy! We had a good talk on FaceTime. Buddies!
