This won't exactly be thrilling. Just logging some recent fitness doings.
On Friday I did 100 push-ups, walked three miles, and took three passes in the Bunker Hill Monument. It was supposed to be more, but I get sick of people. How much space they take up, how slowly they move, the stupid things they say, how unfunny they are, so I bailed.
On Saturday I did 100 push-ups and ran 3000 stairs at City Hall, before spending most of the day helping people move. There was me and two other guys. I was in the truck for quite a while picking up everything and stacking it. You have a low ceiling and it's like a sweat box in there, then you're bending down, lifting things up over other things. Doing something like this I see how much fitter I am than most. People need breaks, they have to put things down, and all I want to do is speed up and keep going, be done as quickly as possible and get on to what's next. It's very clear to me the difference the push-ups have made.
On Sunday I did 300 push-ups and ran 7000 stairs. Did something a bit different, which I'll be doing more of. I ran 5000 stairs at City Hall, then I went inside of the subway station at Government Center and ran 1000 stairs there. Normally you have to pay to get in, but I've noticed the last few times I was there that it was free. This could be just a weekend thing or a weekend in the summer thing--I don't know. You have to pay the fare at all of the other T stops I've been at. But I figured I'd take advantage of this and mix things up some.
It's hot and kind of airless inside of this station--same goes with the rest of them--and so that was another wrinkle/slight challenge. Then I ran another 1000 stairs on these short stairs in-between the subway stop and my regular City Hall stairs to get me to the 7000. I had planned to go around to a fore more places for what I'm calling a stair odyssey, but I was so wet and I would have had to change first. Something to do later. There are seven sets of stairs near me and I could in theory run stairs on each of them in a given day.
Yesterday I did 100 more push-ups and ran 3000 stairs at City Hall.
Sunday marked 2933 days, or 419 weeks, without a drink.
