"I am squishy, bitchy, and I like to drink when the sun is hot and high in the sky . I am not sober ."
You'd find more worth your time in an owl pellet than you would on a dating site, and not because dating sites are some aberration or where the dregs assemble but much more depressingly because they're an accurate cross section of all that there is now when it comes to people.
That was from one of the better profiles, incidentally. You got a rhyme, proper use of commas if not periods, some alliteration, a bit of a fatalistic turn of phrase befitting a Western with noir elements. Few people are able to write a sentence. I don't just mean that they choose not to--I mean that they actually can't.
At this point I wonder what school does, which is less a criticism of teachers and more an observation regarding our inability to learn, recall--which may be the bigger issue here--care, apply ourselves. Would anyone be any different without it later on? If you can't even write a sentence, what did you learn? Math? People don't know math. Most don't even know what side of the number a dollar sign goes on now. People don't know history. If you spent your day today polling people outside as to when the Civil War happened, you'll come across like four people who are close to knowing, and no one will have the years exact. What do people know? Green light means go? What else? Chew your food before you swallow it? Or at least more or less?
There were multiple emojis--inevitably--after the above boast as to a lack of sobriety, a claim which I didn't doubt.
But what fun, right? Squishy, bitchy, and drunk at noon! At least one visit from the cops feels inevitable, and one is often way more than you want/need.
If someone does write something, they've almost always had it written by AI, which, of course, is an option, with machines replacing us and all, something that I see as the greatest threat to humanity in history--the essential extirpation of our humanness, because those are the stakes and this is how it happens/is happening--but which really doesn't trouble other people, many of whom probably look at it as a way for them to have time to do more when they already do nothing, know nothing, learn nothing, contribute nothing.
AI writes in the most generic, circular fashion. Note the next time you see some how the ends of AI sentences are like the starts. It's similar to that kid who didn't read the book and is trying to fulfill the word count of his book report by talking in circles about nothing. But AI writing is often superior to non-AI writing because that's how bad everyone is at writing and AI will come closer to getting the most rudimentary parts of grammar--the first grade stuff--correct that adults cannot. And obviously we've talked about and shown how AI can replace MFA fiction, and we'll continue to.
She was actually in better shape than she said, though. But you're also looking at a lot of images of obese people who use cat filters in their photos like they are a cat who is thirty-seven-years old with an enormous bottle of Sprite or something along those lines somewhere in the background of the image.
I'm not trying to be mean or make fun of people. This isn't fun to me. It's very far away from fun. But my God. How can we be like this? How can we so often be the so little that we are? How can we not be more than that?
