Dear best pal of mine Lilah,
How is my favorite non-tyrant of a niece?
I hope you had a wonderful summer.
I receive many updates about you from your Grammie. And of course I ask about you often because I like you so very much.
You likely won’t remember this, because it was from so long ago, but I had promised to send you a story, which I knew was going to be the story in this envelope.
But sometimes, it can take a while to get something the best that we think it can be and I didn’t want to send this story to you until I felt I couldn’t make it any better.
After you’ve read it, maybe you can share it with your siblings and your mom and dad, because it really is a story for everyone. I guess you could say that’s the point. It’s also a good one for a bunch of people to read together.
But you are a true-blue reader and a kindhearted person, so that’s why I’ve mailed this story—which is called “Hero of Mine”—directly to my best pal.
Say hi to the rest of the family for me (and tell your sister the Little Ghost Girl says “what’s up”) and keep being you. There are going to be things and people that try and get in the way of that. And like the story says…well, you’ll see…
Love,
Colin
