Pre-flight

Sunday 4/7/24

Really have to fly right now. Get on those stairs and tend to my health.

The mail came late again Friday, so first thing yesterday I went down to the mailboxes to check if there was anything. Opened the door, and there was a single piece of mail in my box, with the front portion facing outwards and the letters IRS staring me right back in the face. So that was a nice jolt for the heart. Thanks again, Wall Street Journal.

New plan with the short story from the other day--going in a different direction.

Red Sox lost, Trevor Story to the IL. Great signing. This fragile little--

Hoping to get to a museum today and back for the women's basketball championship game. Someone opined to me yesterday that South Carolina would definitely win. I don't know. Seems to me that if you have the best player in the nation and that best player has an outstanding game, then you can win any one game.

Listened to Nigel Kennedy's recording of Vivaldi's The Four Seasons.

Would be best to squeeze in quick trip to Trader Joe's, too.

I don't know where matters stood at the end of the day yesterday, but during the middle of it the Pittsburgh Penguins had moved into that last Wild Card spot.

If you put some New England scene on the packaging of your product that has a New England-sounding type of name, your chances of getting my business for that product if it is one I need are good. We've seen this with toothpaste, and so it goes as well with coffee. A graphic of a forest that could be found on Cape Ann or in Vermont, and that's all it takes for me to imagine myself drinking that brand of coffee just after dawn in those New England wood while observing a cardinal in a tree as I stand next to a pond with a stone wall just off yonder. Of course, it helps if your coffee is priced at, let us say, $6 a bag.
