The galloping armies of intellectual and cognitive death

The word "literally" is infiltrating commercials now. We're so linguistically impoverished. We can't say what we want to say. Even with the limited things we have to say. So we say "Literally." Tom Caron is saying it now on the NESN Red Sox broadcasts as well.

There's so much out there now but so little of it that you can actually read. I don't just mean books, online articles. Everyone has a Substack about everything. I'm also talking what I'll call online discourses. The things people say online in written form. You can't read it because it's simply the same brace of phrases used again and again. GOAT, rent free, hill to die on, etc. No one has their own personal way of expressing themselves. There's no linguistic variety, let alone instances of richness. But everyone wants attention and to feel like their voice counts as much as anyone else's so everyone goes off, with the same words, the same nothingness.

You have all the "I be..." people. Why is it that important for you to sound stupid? Is that cool? That's how it's handled, right? You're cool that you write/say this stupid thing that a billion other people write/say? Because it's kind of meant to be a cool person joke, right? Like it's edgy or something?

How is something edgy after it's been done trillions of times? So you're just doing it to, what, be a moron? Or flout language? I'll show you, English! This loses incisiveness when you are close to being illiterate. And I guess the thinking was this is funny? You're doing the joke, which was never clever, never funny, never satirical, didn't send up anything, for the three trillionth time? What a master of humor you are.

People flaunt their ignorance. There's no shame. No consideration that 1. Maybe being ignorant isn't the best way to be and 2. Maybe they should do something about it. They won't do anything however small in that regard. They won't take three seconds to look something up on the magic device in their hand that has, at least so far as they think of them, all the answers.

Instead, they'll take more time than the learning would've taken to write something about this same thing flaunting what they don't know about it, however simple it is. Like I said, no shame. It doesn't occur to them that this should be embarrassing and it doesn't have to be this way.

"I be..."

What happens is this becomes how people write/talk and they don't know any better. They think it's correct. And we get that much closer to not even being able to write our own names.

You mute people on the various platforms, because you can't handle seeing their stupidity anymore. Their obnoxiousness. Their constant attention whoring. Their immaturity. Stupidity doesn't cover it. It's more like their soul-sucking vapidity. They're legion, these people, the galloping armies of intellectual and cognitive death.

And then they come through the mute. The mute doesn't work. They show up again. You think you must not have muted them, you go to do so, and instead of the "mute" option, you see it says "unmute," because you did indeed already mute them and it didn't matter. They came through the mute.

Which is a bang on metaphor for what this world has become. This horrible world where it is almost impossible to be an intelligent person and not feel tortured. And to be a genius, it's hell being here. And to be what I am...It's like you die thousands of times over each day through what you see and the knowledge of what that means. There are no outposts. You won't find a spring out here in this desert of mental desiccation and soullessness from which to drink. It's a plastic desert rather than one made of sand, like even that can't be gotten right.

The plastic desert fits in perfectly to the corporate schema. Corporatization is one of the dominant forces of our world. How everything becomes increasingly corporate. That's not a work-only thing. I'm talking about the corporate effect, in which everything is increasingly homogenized, barren, stilted, sterile, repetitive, unimaginative, anodyne, visionless. Where dreaming and romance and creativity aren't permitted. Are unheard of. Where thought doesn't exist. And when it tries to spring into being, is shut down, the thinker banished, which can take many forms and occur in all spheres.

The actual corporations control and rule the people of the plastic desert. The people of the plastic desert are too stupid--and they can't think--to realize what's happening and their role in helping to make that happen. They go into the stocks willingly. Plow the fields of the estate owner without looking up and seeing the sun, the light, and not even being able to comprehend the limited things that are there be seen between their feet. They go into the barn and breed, because there's nothing else.

Their modeled behavior becomes the behavior of their offspring, and on and on it goes, an unbreakable pattern. There aren't enough people capable to contribute to the breaking. And if there were a few, or even just one single person to swing an axe and sever the chain, to provide some kind of a shake up for a chance, that person would be less welcomed than the Devil himself, and they'd have a hell of a lot less support. If it were possible to have a negative amount of support--and it is, when you think about it--that person would have an infinite amount of it.

Hey.

That's what all this shit gets you. The shit that people focus on, stare at, and know nothing more than; that is, beyond the bounds of. The screens and Netflix and bad Christopher Nolan movies that they all talk about because they know of nothing else and they only know of this because it's arid enough to be a talking point of the plastic desert and they're all looking at it because none of them know that they can turn their bodies and their minds and go off in all these other different directions. That there are paths they can start down on their own.

They come through the mute, so you have to go with the block. And eventually they'll start coming through that, too, because you can't get away from them and this.
