It's three in the morning. I'm working. I stopped and took a look at Threads. One look. Two minutes. If you're not an idiot--if there are any non-idiots left--and you're not a terrible person--if there are any of those left--that's all it takes to see this horrible, hellish world encapsulated. In just a few posts by a few people. If you can think and see and have any moral foundation. But I think that's hardly anyone now.
Here are posts from ten random people that I just saw, with some "of course" bios included. See this sampling for what it is, and you understand a lot about what this world and the people of it have become. And it's not about color or creed or stance. It goes so much further than all of that.
I don't want to editorialize much. I'll just say: The first couple of people make what happens in this world in all of its horror sound like a TV Guide listing for a night of Thank God It's Friday programming. The blinding hate. The self-obsession. The mental illness. The delusion. The posing. The signaling. The hypocrisy. The illiteracy. The narcissism. The narcissism at all costs, including that of the soul and of a life and sanity. The absence of anyone who is actually good at anything. Or funny. The trite-isms. Cliches. Saying words that say nothing. Always. The digital panhandling. The whoring. The self-deceit. The attention seeking. The absence of shame, self-awareness, honor, standards, decency, language skills. The instability. The corporatization of the human condition. The post-human human condition.

A woman was stabbed to death on a train, a man was shot in the neck, there was another school shopting, and there was a beheading in a Dallas hotel… wild times
